Mitsubishi SA repositions ASX range … and cuts price!

Mitsubishi Motors South Africa has repositioned its ASX range, reducing the local line-up from four derivatives to two and cutting pricing.

The repositioning of the outgoing ASX (a heavily facelifted model was revealed in February 2019) comes after the arrival of the Eclipse Cross.

The GL, GLX (including Sport) and GLS variants that previously made up the ASX range have been replaced by an ES-badged model, offered in six-speed manual and continuously variable transmission forms.

The ASX ES is priced at R359 995, while the CVT comes in at R379 995. Seemingly based on the outgoing mid-tier GLX specification (which, in manual, had cost R399 995), the ASX features plenty of standard safety kit, including seven airbags, rear park sensors and a reversing camera (in addition to items such as ABS with EBD and hill-start assist for the CVT model).

A panoramic glass roof, multi-function leather-trimmed steering wheel, touchscreen, automatic air-conditioning and a smart key are also included.

As before, power comes from a naturally aspirated 2,0-litre petrol engine, offering 110 kW and 197 N.m. A three-year/100 000 km warranty and five-year/ 90 000 km service plan (with intervals of 15 000 km) are again included.
