Mountune is popular for its extensive Ford tuning packages but now the brand is branching out into the Volkswagen Automotive Group territory with its Mountune52 Volkswagen Golf GTI and R package. This collaboration between Mountune and fifteen52 wheels and offers a number of performance and cosmetic upgrades.
Starting with the engine, Mountune52 provides a stage 1 power upgrade by means of an ECU recalibration. This bumps up the output of the GTI’s turbocharged 2,0-litre four-cylinder engine from 169 kW and 350 N.m of torque to 228 kW and 475 N.m. The modification also bumps up the Golf R’s already-impressive 228 kW and 400 N.m outputs to 265 kW and 500 N.m, affording it a 0-100 km/h time of 3,7 seconds. Complementing this upgrade is an M52 X3 induction system for improved airflow and a billet turbo muffler delete to give the engine a more characterful soundtrack.
Upgrades to vehicle dynamics include a M52 performance brake disks and pads and a set of sports springs, lowering the Golf by 20-30mm. This goes in-hand with the fifteen52 “chicane” and “podium” 19-inch alloy wheels.
Other than the suspension and wheels, the only other visual enhancement is the dynamic side splash set which comprises vinyl decals for the profile.
