It’s understood that production engines run at a fraction of their true potential – completely understandable when one considers longevity and consumption and the fact that manufacturers don’t want to drown in warranty claims – mountune, however have taken advantage of that with their Mk4 Ford Focus ST performance upgrade kit.
Specialising in Ford products, mountune has been offered the very highest quality engine and performance parts for over four decades, with a focus on maintaining vehicle safety and reliability.
Their latest power upgrade kit – m365 – is now available, and for existing mountune clients with their Bluetooth OBD dongle and SMARTflash app, upgrading from the m330’s 246 kW to 272 kW is as easy as an over the air update and a R2 000 (£99) calibration upgrade. The 2,3-litre four-pot turbo motor’s software upgrades work in conjunction with mountune’s high-flow panel air filter plus their three-inch high-flow downpipe with sports catalyst and Sport GPF (gas particulate filter).
David Mountain, Managing Director of mountune, Ford has done a great job with the stock ST and what we have done with this m365 upgrade kit is to fully optimise the calibration with our newly engineered low-back pressure exhaust hardware – this means maximum performance is available throughout the rev-range and it’s now a seriously fast car, which is also great fun to drive, too.”
Along with an extra 63 kW and 140 N.m over the standard Mk 4 Focus ST’s 206 kW and 420 N.m, the m365 mTune SMARTflash includes four interchangeable calibrations – m365 performance, m330 performance, stock performance, and an anti-theft setting. The idea is that users are able to configure the vehicle to suit prevailing conditions, as well as the quality of fuel available.
Mountune is based in Brentwood, Essex, and UK pricing converted to ZAR for the m365 upgrade (available for the Mk 4 Focus ST) is as follows;
– mTune SMARTflash m365 Power Upgrade – R13 467 (£689)
– mountune 3” High-Flow Downpipe – R11 239 (£575)
– mountune Sport GPF – R10 261 (£525)
– Panel filter – R968 (£49.50)
