The new Honda HR-V is arguably one of the better looking products that Japanese brand has revealed in recent years, but as far as renowned Japanese tuner Mugen is concerned, it could still use a little spicing up.
This week Mugen announced a vast range of accessories for the Japanese domestic market version of the HR-V, which wears a Vezel badge over there. Although there are no engine mods to speak of as yet, Mugen is offering a wide range of design equipment supplied by Infinite.
Customers can choose from a variety of 18-inch wheel designs in various colours. Also available to spice up the exterior is a large black roof spoiler as well as a tailgate spoiler, fin-shaped black door mirror covers, Mugen-badged grille garnish and bespoke headlight decals. Lower down you’ll see front and rear lip spoilers as well as a bold set of side skirts. For the inside, buyers can choose from various mats in red and black and Mugen-branded scuff plates are available too.
Although no performance mods are available, Mugen is offering a sports silencer for the exhaust system as well as a high performance air filter.
The third-generation Honda HR-V/Vezel was revealed earlier this year. Built around an upgraded platform, the new compact SUV features a version of Honda’s e:HEV hybrid drivetrain that pairs two compact electric motors to a 1,5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine to enable system outputs of 96 kW and 253 N.m.
Honda SA has yet to confirm when the new HR-V will reach South African showrooms.
