As standard, the Supra’s B58 mill, which it shares with the BMW Z4 M40i, produces 250 kW and 500 N.m of torque. But, thanks to some mild tweaks (in the shape of a stage 1 software optimisation), the 3,0-litre inline-six’s peak figures jump to 313 kW and 580 N.m.
A hotter, stage 2 performance upgrade is also on offer. Equipped with a Capristo downpipe, replete with sports catalyst and software optimisation, the stage 2 kit boosts the turbo-petrol six’s outputs to 332 kW and 600 N.m, which is still sent to the rear rubber via eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission.
The all-important 0-100 km/h sprint times for the stage 1 and 2 uprated models have yet to be revealed but, interestingly enough, McChip-DKR says top speed is now 265 km/h for both upgrades. As a reminder, Toyota claims a 0-100 km/h time of 4,5 seconds and top speed of 250 km/h for the 3,0-litre variant.
According to the company, a stage 1 kit will soon be available for the new 2,0-litre derivative of the Supra. An injection of 145 kW doubles the turbocharged four-pot’s (also employed by the Z4 sDrive20i we tested in August 2019) output to 290 kW, while torque is increased to 420 N.m (up by 100 N.m).
