Mercedes-Benz South Africa has released local pricing for the new, seven-seater Mercedes-AMG GLS63 4Matic+.
So, how much will you pay for the 63-badged version of the Stuttgart-based firm’s three-row, flagship SUV? Well, the starting price is some R3 063 120.
As a reminder, the GLS63 is powered by Affalterbach’s twin-turbo 4,0-litre V8 engine, which makes 450 kW and 850 N.m, and works with an integrated EQ Boost starter-alternator. The 16 kW/250 N.m ancillary unit supplies the 48 V electrical system, “briefly” offering a boost function to provide assistance at low engine speeds.
According to AMG, the obligatory blast from zero to 100 km/h thus takes 4,2 seconds, with top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h (though the German firm will happily raise that figure to 280 km/h should you specify the R38 900 AMG Driver’s package).
Drive is directed to all four corners thanks to the fully variable all-wheel-drive arrangement, via a nine-speed automatic transmission. Air suspension (allowing the ride height to be raised by up to 55 mm at the touch of a button) with active roll stabilisation is also included.
While the GLS63 rides on 21-inch AMG alloys as standard, a range of wheel designs is optionally offered. Other cost extras include different upholstery options, the AMG Night package (R19 600), the Acoustic Comfort package (R21 100) and the Driving Assistance package Plus (R43 300).
Should you want a panoramic sliding sunroof, you’ll have to shell out an extra R27 300, while items such as a lockable floor compartment (R1 300), Multicontour rear seats (R38 600), a Burmester high-end 3D surround-sound system (R86 100), an AMG performance exhaust system (R28 700) and a head-up display (R18 900) likewise form part of the options list.
