The next-generation BMW 2 Series Active Tourer has been revealed with the brand’s updated design language and technical features. The Bavarian MPV will be offered with an array of petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid powertrain options.
Key highlights of the exterior design consist of an increased presence thanks to the larger octagonal kidney design. If you opt for the M Sport package, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer benefits from a number of dynamic panels as well as a recessed BMW logo above the grilles. The new design boasts a drag coefficient figure of 0,26.
Within the cabin of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, the brand’s operating system 8 has been applied to the BMW curved unit which consists of a 10,25 and 10,7 inch digital display with BMW Live Cockpit Plus. With it being an MPV, cabin packaging and versatility is key. Catering to this is a 40:20:40 split folding rear backrest which opens up 1 455 dm3 of utility space. With the seats folded up, the brand claims a boot capacity of 406 dm3.
Powertrains available for the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer consist of the 225e and 230e xDrive with a power output of 180 and 240 kW respectively. Both options sport a 14,9 kWh battery pack which boasts a maximum electric range of 80 km.
The 223i moniker debuts as the brand’s 48V mild hybrid option with a 160 kW power output. The 220i returns with 125 kW while a 100 kW 218i comes in as the entry level powertrain option. The 218d returns as well with a 110 kW output. All engines are fitted with the brand’s seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
BMW South Africa has not yet confirmed a local introduction for the 2 Series Active Tourer.
