Next year looks to be quite a busy one for Volkswagen South Africa as it has plans to introduce eight new products. The models that will be introduced include all-new and updated products, some of which are locally built.
In the first quarter of 2022, Volkswagen will be introducing the locally built and updated Polo, including the GTI. the Volkswagen Polo facelift has been handed new updated design cues to the front and rear with the most notable changes being the head- and taillamp clusters. These LED headlamps will be standard across the range while the new IQ Light LEDs will be available optionally.
Together with this will be the all-new Caddy of which specs and standard features have already been detailed. Like before, this model will cater to both the passenger and commercial markets with a number of different trims and body styles.
In the second quarter of 2022, we will be introduced to the all-new Volkswagen Golf R and updated Tiguan R. These two models are powered by the brand’s turbocharged 2,0-litre four-cylinder engine of which power is delivered to an all-wheel drive system via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Those looking for a bit more space will also be able to opt for the Tiguan Allspace facelift which is essentially a seven-seater offering of the recently launched Tiguan.
Together with this, the all-new Taigo and updated T-Roc will be introduced to continue the German manufacturer’s crossover strategy in South Africa.
For the third quarter, Volkswagen South Africa confirms that a new Polo Sedan will be introduced as well, but little details on this have been declared.
Those wanting to know about the all-new Ford Ranger-based Volkswagen Amarok will have to wait just a bit longer as launch dates for this highly anticipated product will only be confirmed next year.
Volkswagen South Africa advises that due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resultant semiconductor crisis, these introduction dates may change. Pricing will be confirmed closer to the respective launch dates.
