New Kia Sonet teaser video provides glimpse at front and rear styling

Kia has released a fresh (somewhat strange) teaser video for the upcoming production version of its new Sonet baby crossover.

Back in February 2020, the Korean firm’s Indian arm unveiled the Sonet concept, previewing the production version that will be fully revealed at the end of the first week of August (and run on the same platform as the Hyundai Venue, slotting in below the Seltos).

The 25-second teaser video, however, gives us an early look at the production model’s design. From what we can tell, the show car’s distinctive front and rear lighting signatures will carry over largely unchanged.

Reports out of India suggest the Sonet will be offered with the same turbocharged 1,0-litre petrol engine as the Venue, along with a naturally aspirated 1,2-litre petrol and a 1,5-litre turbodiesel (for that market, anyway).

So, will the Sonet be offered here in South Africa? Well, Kia Motors SA has yet to reveal its plans but there’s little reason to think the newcomer wouldn’t be earmarked for our market.

Watch the teaser video below (as we said, it’s a little bizarre)…
