Back in July 2020, we shared local pricing for three new Mercedes-Benz V300d variants. Now these fresh-faced derivatives have officially joined the V-Class range in South Africa.

Yes, the facelifted line-up now features a V300d powertrain option, complete with a nine-speed automatic transmission. This 2,0-litre, four-cylinder (OM654) turbodiesel engine generates 176 kW and 500 N.m (along with an additional 30 N.m on overboost). The result is a sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in a claimed 7,9 seconds and a top speed of 220 km/h.

As we pointed out in our earlier story, the new V300d is priced from R1 440 203 in Avantgarde trim, while specifying the AMG Line package pushes the starting price to R1 515 183. Interestingly, a new flagship Exclusive specification also joins the range, starting at R1 645 880.

As with other V-Class variants, the V300d models ship standard in seven-seat configuration, although six- and eight-seater options are available, too. The Exclusive trim level features a panoramic sunroof, climatised rear seats and a built-in drinks cooler in the centre console. In addition, the Stuttgart-based firm’s Night Package is available exclusively for V300d variants.

The arrival of the V300d derivatives sees the availability of the MBUX infotainment system across the range (replacing the old Comand Online arrangement). The system includes a 10,25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality. All three V300d models come standard with a 16-speaker Burmester sound system.
