Expect the second-generation Mini Countryman to be not only bigger and more spacious, but a lot more rugged than the current car.
The production version will arrive late in 2016 and Autocar reports that it will carry influences from Mini’s Dakar-winning X-Raid race car. Like the new Mini Clubman, it will be based on BMW’s UKL (Untere Klasse) platform and use the same four-wheel drive system as BMW’s 2 Series Active Tourer.
Said to be over 4.25m long (an increase of 150mm) and 10mm wider than the current Countryman, it will also be more rugged than the outgoing car.
