Rolls-Royce’s first EV needs to hit the nail on the head which is why the new Spectre EV is being put through some rigorous testing. Moving away from the frigid Swedish terrain, the silent Spectre now finds itself in the opulence of Côte d’Azur.
A tough testing program comprising 2,5 million km is what it takes for the first ever electric vehicle to convince the British automaker of its novel creation. After spending considerable time in the extreme conditions of Arjeplog, Sweden, the new Spectre EV is now enjoying the summer warmth of the French Riviera. This model will complete a 625 000 km testing phase in southern France with stints at the historic Autodrome de Miramas proving ground.

We can’t imagine many of the new Spectre EV models will find their way to Arjeplog within the frigid Arctic circle but Rolls-Royce do foresee that many of its clientele may find themselves navigating along the winding French Riviera on a warm summer day. The all-electric super-luxury EV will have continental touring central to its proposition although plush performance will still be at its core.
The Autodrome de Miramas proving ground in Bouches-du-Rhône is a state-of-the-art test and development facility that will enable Rolls-Royce engineers to hone in performance and handling characteristics. This will enable the new Spectre EV to offer the same experience all of its recent predecessors have managed.
Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive Officer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars stated: “This latest testing phase proves a suite of advanced technologies that underpin a symbolic shift for Rolls-Royce as it progresses towards a bright, bold, all-electric future. This will secure the ongoing relevance of our brand for generations to come.”
Rolls-Royce mentions that the new Spectre EV is only 40% completed with its testing journey but based on the automakers insistence to test the model in environments where it will likely be used, we can fathom a guess that other affluent regions of the world will be next on its agenda.
