The new VUHL 05RR has been unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, with the Mexican automaker claiming it boasts a better kW-per-tonne statistic than the likes of the Bugatti Veyron and McLaren P1.
The new model is based on the (already bonkers) standard VUHL 05, but has had its weight further reduced and some 25 percent more power unleashed from its 2,3-litre Ford EcoBoost engine.
Linked to a six-speed sequential gearbox, this turbocharged four-pot now makes 357 kW, marking a 74 kW gain over the original VUHL 05. And the resulting 441 kW-per-tonne statistic betters that of hypercars like the Veyron and P1. The scramble from standstill to 100 km/h is over in just 2,7 seconds, with top speed pegged at around 257 km/h (where the likes of the Veyron – and indeed its successor, the Chiron – are only just getting started).
The 05RR furthermore features a lowered centre of gravity and a high-speed steering rack, as well as ultra-lightweight carbon-fibre wheels. A revised aero package, which includes a full-width rear wing and F1-inspired diffuser strakes, has also been applied.
The automaker says the VUHL 05RR is road-legal but track-focused, and comes with full carbon-fibre bodywork and a hybrid aluminium-carbon monocoque to trim its already low weight by over 10 % to a positively skinny 640kg.
Pricing has yet to be announced.
