The Nio ET5 has been officially unveiled as a mid-sized sedan with the intention of taking Tesla on in its local and select global markets. The Chinese-designed and built product promises an array of smart technologies, rapid performance and sporting design.

The Nio ET5 has been penned to envoke a supercar DNA with a silhouette that has been inspired by the ET7 and EP9. The sedan measures about 4 700 mm long with muscular haunches, a wider track and sharp chiseled forms that are backed-up by a rear ducktail spoiler. Key elements also include the air curtain, flush doorhandles, soft close doors and frameless windows that create cleaner lines and improved aerodynamic efficiency.

Within the cabin of the Nio ET5, inspiration has been taken from furniture, fashion and footwear. A larger glasshouse and panoramic glazed roof has been implemented to create a bright interior that is complemented by natural and organic hues.

The interior also features a range of recycled and more sustainable materials such as the Clean+ fabric used for the seats. Smart invisible air vents were developed for a neater and more cohesive design whilst an all-new 256 color ambient light feature offers the chance to create an atmosphere to always suit your mood. A Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 surround sound system is fitted as standard.

The Nio ET5 offers 360 kW and 700 N.m of torque which allows it a 0-100 km/h time of 4,3 seconds. Power is sent to a dual motor architecture with a150 kW induction asynchronous motor in the front and 210 kW permanent magnet motor at the rear.
