Nissan South Africa rejigs X-Trail range, drops base diesel variant

By: CAR magazine

Nissan South Africa has quietly rejigged its X-Trail range, dropping the entry-level version of the diesel derivative and making the base petrol variant a seven-seater as standard.

With the front-driven 1,6dCi Visia derivative no longer offered (this 96 kW/320 N.m engine remains in the 1,6dCi 4×4 Tekna, though), the line-up has been trimmed from seven to six variants.

The base-spec 2,0 Visia – with its naturally aspirated 2,0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine offering an unchanged 106 kW and 200 N.m to the front axle via a six-speed manual gearbox – now features seven seats (rather than five) as standard, with Nissan SA raising its price by R5 100 to R415 000.

In addition, the mid-tier 2,5 4×4 Acenta Plus variant has been culled, with the 2,5 4×4 Acenta Tech instead now offered in both five- and seven-seater guise. From what we can tell, all other variants are unchanged.

Pricing:
Nissan X-Trail 2,0 Visia (7-seater): R415 000
Nissan X-Trail 2,5 Acenta 4×4: R470 100
Nissan X-Trail 2,5 Acenta Tech 4×4: R486 160
Nissan X-Trail 2,5 Acenta Tech 4×4 CVT (7-seater): R491 160
Nissan X-Trail 1,6dCi Tekna 4×4: R521 700
Nissan X-Trail 2,5 Tekna 4×4 CVT: R534 300
