Pagani’s road-going cars exist within the upper echelons of the automotive world, but the likes of the new Pagani Huayra R Evo are leagues above.

“Nature teaches us how every organism tends to evolve to adapt to environmental conditions, and this principle guided the creation of the Huayra R Evo project. The term ‘Evo’ reflects the transformation of a Hypercar that increasingly adapts to its natural environment — the track — integrating new elements and evolving in terms of performance and drivability.” – Francesco Perini, Head of Technical Department at Pagani Automobili
The Huayra R Evo is founded on a monocoque chassis and distinguished from its standard road-going stablemates by several body enhancements tailored to provide a greater track driving experience. A new front splitter and extended long-tail rear help contribute to a significant extension of the Huayra’s physique, which is 5.1 metres in length. Additional enhancements include new air flicks, an aeroplane wheel wrapped in new P Zero slick tyres, a new fin and a rear wing. The open-top hypercar maintains a 45%/ 55% weight distribution and is capable of generating more aerodynamic load than the Huayra R Evo weighs. Interestingly, Pagani states that the open-top configuration increases the front and rear vehicle loads, effectively boosting the total downforce generated by an extra 5%. Supporting the 1 060 kg hypercar is the same independent forged aluminium alloy double-wishbone suspension system debuted on the Huayra R.

As for its beating heart, the Evo offshoot relies on the uprated version of the familiar naturally aspirated 6.0-litre V12 dubbed the V-12R Evo. In this configuration, the bellowing powerplant delivers 662 kW @ 8 750 r/min and 770 N.m from 5 800 to the rear wheels. Mated to the V12 engine is a sequential six-speed gearbox with a three-disc racing clutch as the middleman. Stopping power is sourced from the Brembo CCM-R self-ventilated carbon-ceramic discs and monolithic six-piston callipers.
To reduce overall weight, the Huayra R Evo’s monocoque chassis also includes integrated seats and headrests. The seats are wrapped in a fire-resistant material, overtop the foam padding across.
Altogether, the Huayra R Evo’s performance is claimed to be akin to that of a Le Mans Prototype 2 race car.
“The inspiration for the design of the Huayra R Evo struck me during a Formula Indy race in Nashville: as I observed the single-seater cars with their Aeroscreens, the idea of creating a car with protective polycarbonate surfaces and the option to remove the two roof panels to be fully immersed in the allure of the air and the captivating sound of the engine, dawned on me.” – Horacio Pagani
