Images and details of the Peugeot Fractal concept have been revealed ahead of the Frankfurt show next month.
Look past the fact that it’s a roadster with a very futuristic interior and what you’re probably looking at is the design DNA for Peugeot’s next generation of hatchbacks.
Clearly drawing on the Peugeot Vision Gran Turismo visual concept Peugeot designed for the Gan Turismo computer game, the Fractal shows a more realistic interpretation of how those would translate into an actual car.
The Fractal concept is only 3,81 metres long and 1,77 metres wide. Tipping the scales at only 1 000 kg, the concept also offers a removable roof. The short overhangs and 19-inch wheels further contribute to the car’s compact stance.
An interesting feature is the adjustable air springs which change the car’s ground clearance from 7 cm to 11 cm.
The concept powertrain is made up of two 75 kW electric motors, one mounted on the front and one on the rear axle. This system is connected to a 30 kW/h battery pack. The claimed range is a useful 450 km, while the dash to 100 km/h is 6,8 seconds and the 1 km sprint is done in 28,8 seconds.
Although this is only a concept, it could eventually translate into a compact electric, two-door coupe or cabriolet.
