The roads of California were electrified this week as the Automobili Pininfarina Battista made its dynamic debut in production form as part of a series of events around Monterey Car Week. The 1 416 kW pure-electric Hyper GT wowed onlookers with its specification – Black Exposed Signature Carbon and precision polished Impulso forged aluminium alloy wheels, with the quilted Iconica Blu Alcantara and black sustainable leather upholstery rounding the package off nicely.
Along with the first production-spec Pininfarina Battista, the exclusive Battista Anniversario, limited to just five vehicles worldwide, also makes its debut at Monterey Car Week.
Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance will see the Pininfarina Battista displayed alongside an exclusively curated selection of classic designs from the company’s 91-year history.
This also provides the first opportunity for clients to hear what Pininfarina refers to as Battista’s unique ‘Pure Sound’ philosophy. It pipes organic frequencies into the cabin for an “emotive and authentic EV sound experience”.
With a core frequency of 54 Hz, the soundscape has an organic frequency that is a multiple of 432 Hz – this is known as ‘Verdi’s A’ and was conceived
by the famous 19th Century Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi. This distinctive aural signature is tailored for “the most powerful road-legal Italian sports car ever produced.”
“Every driver has an emotional bond with a car and the sound of Battista will nurture this connection, not by replicating a familiar car sound, but with one that radiates the beauty of Battista’s design both inside and out. This way, the Battista will not only impress with its aesthetic appeal and performance, but also on a new emotional level enhanced through the sound. We look forward to the input we will receive from clients in the US as we fine-tune Battista’s sonic experience,” said Automobili Pininfarina’s Product Platform Director of Sports Cars, René Wollmann.
Named after Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina, the founder of the Carrozzeria Pininfarina coachbuilding company, the Battista hyper GT realises Battista’s dream of seeing a car produced that wears the Pininfarina name.
Customer deliveries are set to take place before the end of 2021.
