Polestar has announced a performance package for the new Volvo S90 and V90, in a bid to improve the dynamics of the pair of flagship models.
The Swedish automaker’s in-house tuner says the Polestar Performance Optimisation package “upgrades the entire drivetrain and further improves driving dynamics”.
Essentially, the light upgrade mirrors that revealed for the XC90 late last year.
Polestar says the sedan and estate thus boast improvements in terms of throttle response, gearshift speed and precision, and overall engine performance. Initially, the package will be available for the D5 diesel engine only, with the T6 petrol version set to follow later this year.
Although Polestar has yet to officially release performance figures, the D5 power upgrades appear relatively minor, with around one-tenth of a second expected to be sliced off the respective claimed zero to 100 km/h sprint times (so, down to 6,9 seconds for S90 and 7,0 seconds for the V90).
No word yet on whether this package will be offered in South Africa, although bear in mind that the standard V90 estate is not expected to be launched locally, while the S90 sedan is scheduled to arrive only towards the end of 2016.
