Porsche has announced the availability of a seven-speed manual transmission for its 992-generation 911 Carrera S and 4S models.
Available in both coupé and cabriolet variants (mated to the same 331 kW turbocharged 3,0-litre flat-six engine), the manual cog-swapper is offered as a no-cost alternative to the standard eight-speed PDK transmission.
Interestingly, the seven-speed manual comes paired with the sport chrono package as standard, adding dynamic drivetrain mounts, PSM sport mode, a rev-matching function and a driving mode switch on the steering wheel.
Furthermore, manual-equipped models ship standard with a mechanical limited-slip differential (and a torque vectoring system), replacing the electronically controlled item employed by PDK derivatives.
Naturally, manual variants are a touch slower than their PDK counterparts in terms of outright acceleration, with Porsche claiming a sprint time from zero to 60 mph (97 km/h) of “around 4,0 seconds”. Top speed, meanwhile, is listed as “over 305 km/h”.
