Mahindra South Africa has rolled out styling and specification upgrades to the S6 and S10 double-cab versions of its Pik Up.

The Indian firm says the latest updates complete the overhaul of the bakkie range, with the automatic S11-badged double-cab models having arrived in January 2020 and the upgraded S6 single-cab variants following in June.

So, what’s new? Well, the upgrade to the S6 and S10 double-cab derivatives include the latest front-end design, complete with a seven-slat grille, fresh headlamps and round foglamps in a redesigned lower bumper.

For the record, S6 models feature silver-painted highlights on the grille, while S10 and S11 AT models boast a chrome finish. The new headlamps and side indicators are now standard across the range. Mahindra furthermore says all models bar the Karoo derivatives now feature a redesigned bolt-on cab protector with additional tie-down spots.

Inside, all single- and double-cab models from S6 upwards now feature cruise control and electrically adjustable side mirrors. In addition, all models have one-touch lane-change indicator functions along with the company’s new flip-key with a chrome logo.

The S10 double-cab receives the same seven-inch infotainment touchscreen system (with an integrated reverse camera) available on the S11 model. All double-cab models as well as S6 single-cab variants have upgraded to a remote fuel-flap release system that can be operated from the foldable flip key.

“The Pik Up range is making new fans every month, and our South African assembly facility can barely keep up with the demand. With the upgrades now added, we believe that we have the perfect bakkie for customers looking for reliable and capable, but always affordable, double cab to fit their lifestyle,” said Rajesh Gupta, CEO of Mahindra South Africa.

“With our most recent upgrade, we believe that there is a Mahindra Pik Up for every taste. This is especially true since Mahindra has decided to offer 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrain options and our 103 kW mHawk turbodiesel engine, regardless of your choice of specification level,” he added.

Under the bonnet, Mahindra’s 2,2-litre mHawk turbodiesel engine soldiers on, delivering 103 kW at 3 750 r/min and 320 N.m from 1 500 to 2 800 r/min via a six-speed manual gearbox (or six-speed automatic transmission in the case of the S11 double-cab models).
