We brought you pricing of the new S7 Sportback earlier in November 2020 but now Audi has officially launched the newcomer in South Africa.

As we pointed out in that original story, the new S7 Sportback starts at R1 500 500, shipping standard with the German firm’s five-year/100 000 km maintenance plan.

As a reminder, the turbocharged 2,9-litre V6 petrol engine offers 331 kW and 600 N.m, delivered to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Top speed is limited to 250 km/h, while the obligatory blast from standstill to 100 km/h takes a claimed 4,6 seconds. In addition, the new S7 Sportback features a 48 V mild-hybrid system (with a belt alternator starter and a 10 Ah lithium‑ion battery) capable of recovering up to 8 kW of power.

The TFSI-powered S7 comes standard with 21-inch alloy wheels, the 12,3-inch Audi virtual cockpit, MMI navigation plus, four-zone automatic air-conditioning, the automaker's latest twin-stacked touchscreens, a posh Bang & Olufsen sound system and a panoramic glass sunroof.

While S sport suspension is included in the price, there's also the option of adaptive air suspension (allowing the body to be lowered a further 10 mm), all-wheel steering and a rear-sited sport differential.
