Pricing! Nissan South Africa adds more powerful variants to Micra range…

Nissan South Africa has added three new variants to its local Micra range, each powered by a turbocharged 1,0-litre three-cylinder engine.

Interestingly, the previous range-topping model (wearing the “Acenta Plus Tech” badge) has fallen away.

While the light hatchback has been offered with a 66 kW/140 N.m 0,9-litre three-pot (one shared with the outgoing Renault Clio) since its local launch in June 2018, these new derivatives employ a slightly larger unit with a little more zing.

Available in conjunction with Acenta Plus, Tekna and Tekna Plus trim levels, the engine generates 84 kW and 180 N.m, plus an additional 20 N.m on overboost. That’s enough, says the local arm of the Japanese firm, for a sprint from zero to 100 km/h in 9,9 seconds and a top speed of 170 km/h. A six-speed manual gearbox ships standard.

In Acenta Plus guise, the new variant is priced from R305 900, and includes items such as sport suspension, a chrome tailpipe, the firm’s 360-degree monitor (with moving object detection), blind-spot warning, rear parking sensors and keyless entry.

The Tekna derivative, meanwhile is priced from R326 300 and boasts LED headlamps, LED front foglamps, rain-sensing wipers, automatic air-conditioning and an uprated Bose sound system including speakers in the driver’s headrest.

Finally, the Tekna Plus model comes in from R336 900, and is offered exclusively in a new “Enigma Black” exterior paint colour with “Invigorating Red” interior details. It furthermore gains a heating function for the front, leather-trimmed seats.

All models are covered by Nissan SA’s six-year/150 000 km warranty and a three-year/90 000 km service plan (with intervals of 15 000 km).
