The Opel Combo has arrived in South Africa in two wheelbase configurations, with the local arm of the German firm saying it will import the van “initially in limited numbers because of international demand”.
Power comes from a 1,6-litre turbodiesel engine, which sends 68 kW and 230 N.m to the front axle via a five-speed manual gearbox.
The standard model measures 4 403 mm in length, while the long-wheelbase variant comes in at 4 753 mm. The claimed payload is 600 kg for the former and 1 000 kg for the latter, while the braked towing capacity is rated at 1 250 kg and 850 kg, respectively.
The Combo van’s standard features list includes two airbags, hill-start assist, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, air-conditioning, a four-speaker audio system, remote central locking, rear interior electronic door lock, an alarm and an anti-theft immobiliser.
A three-year/120 000 km warranty and three-year/60 000 km service plan (with intervals of 15 000 km) are included.
