Pricing! Volkswagen Amarok Canyon V6 confirmed for SA…

A new V6-powered, Volkswagen Amarok Canyon special-edition variant is set to join VW South Africa’s range in the near future, slotting in just below the Highline Plus and flagship Extreme derivatives.

Powered by the same 3,0-litre V6 turbodiesel – offering an unchanged 165 kW and 550 N.m, and linked to all four corners by an eight-speed automatic transmission – the Amarok Canyon will be priced at R791 100, some R38 100 less than the V6-badged Extreme (and R2 700 less than the Highline Plus with the same engine).

So, what sets the special-edition Amarok Canyon apart from lesser models? Well, it runs on 17-inch “Aragua” alloys (complete with anti-theft wheel bolts) and features a chunky styling bar over the load bay as well as “Canyon” decals running along its flanks (plus extra badging at the rear).

Somewhat curiously, the images you see here (from VW SA’s configurator) show the Amarok Canyon wearing black wheelarch-cladding up front only, with the rear items left in body colour…

Other standard features include park distance control (fore and aft), a reversing camera, bi-xenon headlamps and a part-chrome finish for the side-mirror caps. Inside, you’ll find the Wolfsburg-based firm’s familiar “Composition Media” infotainment system (with six speakers), Climatronic air-conditioning, special “Canyon” seat trim and plenty of orange contrast stitching.

Exterior paint colour choices will include Candy White, three metallic hues (Indium Grey, Mojawe Beige and Reflex Silver) and Deep Black pearlescent. Upgrading to the “Discovery Media” infotainment system (complete with satellite navigation) will cost you an extra R20 579, while a “Winter Package” (which includes seat heaters up front plus heated washer nozzles) will also be available for R5 044.
