Refreshed Citroën C3 Aircross revealed with ‘more premium’ styling

The facelifted Citroën C3 Aircross has been revealed, with the French firm describing its updated model’s styling as “more premium” and “more mature” than before.

First revealed in mid-2017 before arriving in South Africa late in 2019, the C3 Aircross has now received not only a new look but also “greater in-cabin comfort, enhanced personalisation options and more features”, according to Citroën.

The restyling is most obvious up front, where the C3 Aircross adopts Citroën’s latest design language. The company has introduced a new LED headlamp signature, while the chrome-trimmed chevrons have been updated, now extending towards the lights.

There’s also a new grille with a fresh geometric pattern and a new aluminium-grey skid plate with coloured inserts. The bonnet, meanwhile, is set higher than on the original model.

Citroën says there are now 70 exterior combinations on offer in Europe, along with new 16- and 17-inch diamond-cut or black alloy wheels. The vehicle furthermore gains the brand’s so-called “Advanced Comfort” seats, along with a new central console featuring a large storage space at the rear that can be accessed by both the front and rear passengers.

Top-spec versions of the updated model feature a new nine-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionality, as well as a wireless smartphone charging device.

From what we can tell, engine options in Europe carry over unchanged. As a reminder, the two-strong (pre-facelift) range here in South Africa includes just a single powertrain option: a turbocharged 1,2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine sending 81 kW and 205 N.m to the front axle via a six-speed automatic transmission.
