Refreshed Mazda2 slips into South Africa: check out local pricing…

By: CAR magazine

The facelifted Mazda2 quietly made its way into South Africa at the end of 2019, with the local range comprising six variants. Scroll to the bottom of the article to check out pricing.

Interestingly, the Japanese firm’s local arm has scrapped the Individual Plus trim level, while also switching the flagship Hazumi variant from diesel to petrol power.

From what we understand, the naturally aspirated 1,5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine now offers the front wheels 85 kW and 148 N.m (up slightly from the pre-facelift model’s 82 kW and 145 N.m), again via either a six-speed manual or an automatic transmission with the same number of cogs.

Trim levels include the base Active, mid-spec Dynamic and top-spec Individual, plus the aforementioned Hazumi.

Mazda says it has updated the cabin with new materials, while also claiming to have improved refinement levels. The company has furthermore added Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to the mix, along with a fresh front seat design.

Dynamic variants gain new 15-inch alloy wheels, while fresh 16-inch glossy items are reserved for the Individual and Hazumi derivatives. LED headlamps are fitted as standard across the range, while the Hazumi flagship now boasts a rear cross traffic alert function.

As before, the Mazda2 is covered by a three-year/unlimited kilometre service plan.
