The facelifted Mercedes-AMG GLC63 S – in both standard SUV and coupé-style body configurations – has been revealed.
Under the bonnet, nothing’s changed, which means the twin-turbo 4,0-litre V8 still generates 350 kW in the base model (which is not offered here in South Africa) and 375 kW in the GLC63 S, with peak torque figures of 650 and 700 N.m, respectively. Drive is again sent to all four corners via a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The sprint from zero to 100 km/h takes a clamed 4,0 seconds in the base variants (which bear an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h), and two-tenths quicker in the S models (which top out at 280 km/h, thanks to the AMG Driver’s Package shipping as standard).
So, what has changed? Well, Mercedes-Benz says it’s given the performance SUV a more distinctive lighting design (fore and aft) as well as fitted the MBUX infotainment system. A new dynamic handling control system and the locking differential, meanwhile, are now controlled electronically on all models as standard.
There are also optional new 21-inch light-alloy wheels (20-inch items come standard), redesigned 90 mm twin-tailpipes, a new paint colour (graphite grey metallic), optional gesture control, a new AMG steering wheel, different upholstery options and a trailer manoeuvring assist function.
