Refreshed Mitsubishi ASX arrives in SA sporting bold new face…

By: CAR magazine

The facelifted Mitsubishi ASX has arrived in South Africa, featuring a fresh front end and an “enhanced interior”.

As before, the local range comprises just a pair of variants, separated only by their transmissions. The unchanged naturally aspirated 2,0-litre petrol engine again offers 110 kW and 197 N.m, and can be mated to either a five-speed manual gearbox or a continuously variable transmission (with six steps).

The manual model costs R379 995, while the CVT comes in at R399 995, representing a R15 000 increase over the pre-facelift version in each case.

Up front, you’ll notice the new bonnet, LED headlamps and LED daytime running lights as well as the fresh LED foglamps with integrated indicators. There’s also a redesigned grille and a new front bumper.

Round back, the ASX gains redesigned LED taillights and an updated bumper, while new 18-inch alloy wheels are also included. Fresh exterior colour options are also now available.

And inside? Well, a new eight-inch touchscreen has been added, complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality. There’s also “new grain” for the black leather upholstery, says the firm.

Interestingly, Mitsubishi Motors SA claims the ASX now features an improved braked towing capacity of 1 260 kg for the manual model and an unbraked figure of 750 kg for the CVT.

As before, the ASX is covered by a three-year/100 000 km warranty and a five-year/90 000 km service plan, with intervals of 15 000 km.
