The facelifted Peugeot 3008 has been revealed, sporting even bolder styling than before as well as a revised cabin and some extra oomph.
The refreshed version of the French crossover arrives some four years after the second-generation model debuted.
In terms of styling, the most noticeable changes have taken place up front, where the 3008 adopts a frameless grille and redesigned headlamps (in the case of the full-LED versions, complete with a “foggy mode” function that replaces the conventional foglamps).
Round back, you’ll find full-LED taillamps, while new alloy-wheel designs have been rolled out, too. Following a growing trend, Peugeot will also offer an optional “Black Pack” for the refreshed 3008, which adds a host of gloss-black exterior trim.
Inside, the updated 3008 features an upgraded 12,3-inch digital instrument cluster and a new centrally sited touchscreen with a 10-inch diagonal. New interior trim options (along with fresh driver assistance functions) have also been added to the mix.
And under the bonnet? Well, in Europe, Peugeot says the 3008 will be offered with the choice of two plug-in hybrid powertrains: the front-driven Hybrid 225 e-EAT8 (with 165 kW) and the all-paw Hybrid4 300 e-EAT8 (with 147 kW).
Of course, more conventional combustion engines will also be available. In Europe, the list includes a 96 kW turbocharged 1,2-litre, three-cylinder petrol unit (offered in manual and automatic guise), a 132 kW turbocharged 1,6-litre, four-cylinder petrol mill (up from the pre-facelift, SA-spec model’s 121 kW, and in eight-speed auto form only) and a 1,5-litre turbodiesel generating 96 kW (with either a manual or auto cog-swapper).
It’s not yet clear which engines will be offered in South Africa, nor when the updated model is scheduled to arrive…
