To celebrate reaching one million Facebook fans, Renault Sport has posted a video featuring various iconic RS models. Watch it to the very end, however, and you’ll find a teaser image of the new Mégane RS, complete with a cheeky exhaust note and the words “coming soon”.
The teaser shot doesn’t give very much away (what with the car hiding under an RS-branded cover), but it does reveal that the new Mégane RS – which will take on the likes of the Honda Civic Type R (read about the latest model here) – will boast full-LED headlamps as well as a new interpretation of the chequered flag lighting setup first seen on the facelifted Clio RS.
Rumours suggest that the new Mégane RS will come in five-door flavour only, powered either by a new version of the French brand’s 2,0-litre turbocharged petrol engine or a 1,8-litre unit similar to that used in the new Alpine A110.
Exactly when the new hot hatch will be revealed remains to be seen, but a debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September is looking increasingly likely.
