Remember the Rezvani Beast Alpha from the United States? Well, there’s now an Alpha X Blackbird variant, which pays tribute to the legendary Lockheed SR-71 military jet.
The Rezvani Beast Alpha X Blackbird employs a turbocharged 2,5-litre four-cylinder engine that Rezvani says it has “built from the ground up” using Carillo racing forged pistons, rods, cams, valves, springs and a Cosworth ECU. The engine delivers 522 kW via a six-speed close-ratio manual gearbox (a sequential automatic transmission is also available).
Combining this power with a low overall mass of a claimed 750 kg (plenty of carbon-fibre has been used) means that the Rezvani Beast Alpha X Blackbird – which boasts a removable hard-top and so-called SideWinder doors – can accelerate from zero to 97 km/h in a claimed 2,9 seconds.
A set of 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Goodyear ProXES R888 rubber is included, along with AP Racing brakes. Then there’s the race-inspired instrument cluster and a special set of carbon-fibre-backed seats.
Rezvani will produce just five of these special-edition models, each priced at $225 000 (R2,7-million) before options, with a one-year/unlimited kilometre warranty.
