Got your wallet handy? Well, get ready to bust open that bad boy: we have local pricing for the new Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster.

Revealed at the Geneva International Motor Show in March 2019, the newcomer is effectively an open-top version of the hard-edged coupé.

While just 800 units will be produced globally, a few will make their way to South Africa. The price? Well, the Aventador SVJ Roadster will start at R10 408 000 (which our calculator tells us is some R713 000 more than the SVJ coupé).

As a reminder, urge comes from a V12 producing 566 kW and 720 N.m, which Lamborghini promises is enough for a sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in 2,9 seconds (one-tenth slower than the coupé). The 200 km/h mark is reached in a claimed 8,8 seconds, while top speed is apparently “more than 350 km/h”.

The roadster’s roof is fashioned from carbon-fibre and is removable via quick-release levers in the cabin. The Sant’Agata Bolognese-based firm says it can be securely stored under the bonnet when not in use. At 1 575 kg, the topless model weighs 50 kg more than the SVJ coupé.
