Say hello to the new Hyundai Tucson N Line…

By: CAR magazine

Hyundai has taken the wraps off its new Tucson N Line in Europe, lending an SUV the “N Line” badge (plus the accompanying “dynamic styling and attitude”) for the first time.

The new trim level (first teased back in February) includes exterior and interior elements “inspired” by Hyundai’s high-performance range. In addition, the steering has been tweaked and the suspension settings adjusted (five percent greater rigidity at the rear and eight percent at the front) for a “more sporting drive”.

Major exterior styling changes include redesigned bumpers and a dark mesh-pattern grille framed by dark chrome. Furthermore, 19-inch alloy wheels have been added, along with side-mirror caps and a rear spoiler in glossy black. Black-bezel headlamps, model-specific daytime running lights and darkened window frames are also part of the package.

Inside, you’ll find N-branded leather-suede sport seats plus red stitching on the steering wheel. Alloy pedals and a leather-wrapped, red-accented “N” gear lever are also part of the N Line updates.

And under the bonnet? Well, Hyundai in Europe says three powertrain variants will be offered. First is a 2,0-litre CRDi engine, which combines 48V mild-hybrid technology with a 100 kW 1,6-litre diesel engine. This powertrain is also offered with an output of 136 kW, while the sole petrol option is a 130 kW 1,6 T-GDI engine.

“With the New Tucson N Line, Hyundai now provides the sporty feeling to customers who also want the versatility and comfort of an SUV,” said Andreas-Christoph Hofmann, vice president marketing and product at Hyundai Motor Europe.

“Tucson is our best-selling model in Europe and it is positioned right at the heart of our brand, so we are excited to introduce the N Line character to our customers in this segment.”

No word yet on whether the Tucson N Line is destined for South Africa…
