Scheduled to arrive in South Africa in the second half of 2025, the Volkswagen Tayron is positioned between the Tiguan and Touareg in Volkswagen’s product portfolio. Though further details, including pricing, of the Tiguan Allspace’s successor are yet to be released, the local arm of the Wolfsburg-based brand has announced the South African model line-up will comprise a duo of derivatives.

The (seven-seater) Tayron will be available in Life and R-Line levels of specification. The opening gambit to the range, the Life-spec variant features such items as touchscreen infotainment, replete with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto screen mirroring, digital instrumentation, three-zone climate control, 10-colour ambient lighting, a reverse-view camera and adaptive cruise control. LED headlamps, illuminated fore and aft Volkswagen logos and 17-inch alloy wheels are also included in the Life package. On the safety front, Life trim grade includes nine airbags, lane-keep assist and emergency braking, among other items.
The flagship model in the line-up, R-Line spec features sports seats, upholstered in Varenna leather, aluminium-look trim and 30-colour ambient lighting. This derivative also upgrades to the automaker’s LED Plus headlamps, replete with dynamic cornering lights, 3D taillamp clusters and 19-inch alloy wheels.
Optional equipment includes Volkswagen’s IQ.Light HD matrix headlamps, a panoramic sunroof, a Harman Kardon sound system and a leather package.
