The Silk-FAW Hongqi S9 has been revealed as a new EV hypercar with some pretty impressive stats. The boutique Chinese brand says that its latest creation is a combination of technology and art and the convergence of the classic and innovative.
There are no details on what powers the Silk-FAW Hongqi S9 but the firm claims that it will reach a top speed of over 400 km/h and boast a 0-100 km/h time of 1,9 seconds. As for design, the sleek hypercar aims to push the limits of aerodynamics and architecture to create a hypercar beyond precedent using its “aeroDESIGN” philosophy.
With this, the design portrays a long tail, advanced cockpit, space frame under the glass, variable geometry spoiler, air extraction back lights and innovative carbon fibre air intakes seamlessly integrated into each headlamp and conduct cooling air to the engine for maximum aerodynamic efficiency.
Walter De Silva, VP of Styling & Design Silk-FAW says that, with the Hongqi S9, “We designed the shapes and technical surfaces skillfully until we reached the point of maximum balance between aerodynamics, proportions and beauty. No detail was left to chance in order to complete the body shape of the Hongqi S9 with an aesthetic language of essential, dynamic lines. The end result reveals a timeless, athletic styling that defines the Essence of Beauty.”
This new product is a joint venture between Slik EV and FAW. The pair will go on to develop a series of ultra-luxury, high-performance and new energy sports vehicles. The partnership is the first investment between China and Italy in the super premium and premium auto segments. The intention is to integrating the best of China and Italy’s capabilities.
