A camou’d-up prototype of the upcoming Jaguar F-Type SVR has been spotted testing on the Nurburgring.
Expected to be launched in mid 2016, this flagship of the F-Type range will be developed by Jaguar Land Rover’s new SVO skunkworks that recently unveiled the Range Rover Sport SVR (read our driving impression of the RRS SVR in the current July issue of CAR magazine).
Based on learnings from the Project 7 limited-run model, the Jaguar F-Type SVR will be both lighter and more powerful. It will be based on the F-Type R AWD, but will have an uprated version of the existing supercharged 5,0-litre V8, likely to produce a Project 7-matching 423 kW (up from 405 kW). Like the F-Type R AWD, it will of course have four-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Expect some changes to the suspension set up, as well as re-calibrated steering that will make for a more focused car.
Judging from the spy pics, beneath all that swirling camou the SVR has some aero extras – the most noticeable being the fixed rear wing. The front bumper shows larger cooling vents and a splitter. Carbon Ceramic disc brakes will likely be standard too.
