Ruffian Cars has given the Superformance GT40 Mark I a more extreme and futuristic design thanks to a number of special parts. The unique Ford-inspired supercar was first unveiled at SEMA 2021 in the Toyo Treadpass booth but we now have official specs for the build.
Ruffian Cars explains that the Superformance GT40 Mark I was originally scheduled for a routine motor and transaxle install, the GT40 build turned into a high tech restomod requiring new processes and technologies that would modernize the ever classic GT40 Mark 1.
Powering the Superformance GT40 Mark I is a Ford Racing 52XS that has been tuned to 443 kW and 603 N.m of torque with a rev limit of 8 000 r/min and 12:1 compression ratio. A Quaife five-speed dogleg transaxle gearbox sends power to the rear wheels. The gas is emitted via an equal length, 180 degree headers with vacuum operated bypass valves.
For a more direct input, the Superformance GT40 Mark uses a Flaming River electronic assisted rack and pinion system while grip is sourced from a set of front 295/30 R18 and 345/30 R19 Toyo Proxes R888R tyres mated to Signature THREE centerlock wheels finished with a gloss black hoop, matte bronze center and black hardware.
Stopping power is supplied by a set of Wilwood brakes with six piston callipers and 14-inch rotors while the chassis employs a set of Bilstein shocks with a KW front-end lift.
As for the audio system? Ruffian Cars simply lists “American V8”.
