Bentley has revealed full details of its first-ever oil-burner: the Bentayga Diesel. And it’s scheduled to arrive in South Africa at some point in 2017.
So, what powers this super-posh SUV? A triple-charged, 4,0-litre V8 diesel mill mated to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, of course. Yes, the same engine that is currently found the Audi SQ7…
In Bentley guise, its peak outputs are unchanged, which means it weighs in with 320 kW and a whopping 900 N.m (the latter on tap from just 1 000 r/min).
The Bentayga Diesel sprints from standstill to 100 km/h in 4,8 seconds (again, the same as the Audi) before topping out at 270 km/h (besting the SQ7 by 20 km/h). And that’s enough for the British brand to describe this Bentayga as the “world’s fastest luxury diesel SUV”.
The diesel model also features a number of unique styling additions, including a “V8 Diesel” badge on the lower front door edge as well as a “twin-quad” exhaust tailpipe design. It also gains a black matrix grille (with chrome surround and central bar).
