The next car in line to receive a racing-inspired treatment is the Toyota Fortuner GR Sport which has been introduced to the Indonesian market as a new flagship variant. Available with two engines, the offering boasts a number of sporty styling cues and standard features to broaden its appeal.
Starting with the front, the Toyota Fortuner GR Sport adopts a new bumper design with a revised grille, LED headlamps and a spoiler attachment boasting a new foglamp design. At the rear, a new bumper with a unique anti-scuff plate is used as well. The design is rounded off with an array of GR badging and alloy wheels. The SUV is available in five colour shades. This includes Super White, Silver Metallic, Dark Grey Mica Metallic, Attitude Black and Phantom Brown Metallic.
Inclusions to the cabin of the Toyota Fortuner GR Sport includes adaptable dual-zone climate control, smartphone wireless charging, electrically adjustable driver and passenger seats, 360 degree parking sensors and a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Rear seat passengers will also get to benefit from an entertainment screen with its own unique ambient lighting. The colour-scheme of the cabin has been designed to maintain a dark hue in an attempt to express a luxurious and sporty ambiance.
Curiously, the Toyota Fortuner GR Sport is available in 4×2-guise exclusively with the firm’s turbodiesel 2,4-litre and naturally aspirate 2,7-litre petrol engine. With the oil burner, it delivers 110 kW and 400 N.m of torque while the petrol offers 120 kW and 242 N.m.
While this is a product exclusive to the Indonesian market, GR Sport models such as the Hilux have filtered into South Africa before. Regardless, no official word regarding the introduction of this product into SA has been announced yet.
