Toyota Hilux gets specification alignment and upgrades for South Africa
In August 2020, the new ‘face’ of the Toyota Hilux was introduced alongside the new flagship Legend grade, while the long-running SRX-grade was brought in to replace the Raider. This change also introduced the premium leisure Legend RS models complete with an electric roller-shutter deck lid.
Based on market feedback and customer response, some notable specification tweaks have been brought to the Toyota Hilux range. Where the Legend double-cab is concerned, all 4×4 auto models have received additional specification features as the flagship.
While all Legend models boasted the same exterior design and visual treatment, only the 4×4 models received the full-house treatment which included leather interior, JBL premium audio system and Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) active safety system.
As of this update, all Toyota Hilux Legend models now adopt an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, leather upholstered interior, TSS, dual-zone climate control and keyless entry. The JBL system remains exclusive to the 4×4 model. Where the extra cab is concerned, just leather interior and electrically adjustable seats are now thrown in as standard.
For the Toyota Hilux Raider trim, an alloy spare wheel, height-adjustable driver’s seat and meter illumination control has been implemented to all models while a rear armrest with cup holders, seat back pockets with shopping hooks and a 60/40 rear split seat are added to 2,4 GD-6 variants. The 2,8 GD-6 Raider further benefits from climate control.
With the advancement of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, it has been decided that satellite navigation be deleted from the operating system of the Toyota Hilux.
Lastly, a catalogue of new colours are now available on the Toyota Hilux. This includes a pearl-white finish in the form of Platinum White Pearl. Based on popular demand, a limited run of Sand Beige units will also be produced between October and December 2021.
