Originally introduced in 1984, the Land Cruiser 70 disappeared in 2004 from the market but made a brief comeback for a year before vanishing again. Now, in 2024, it’s back for another run. The revamped Land Cruiser 70 blends a vintage, appealing exterior with a handful of modern amenities purposed to improve its handling and usability. Powered by a 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine delivering 150 kW of power and 500 N.m of torque, this 4×4 SUV packs a punch. Its six-speed torque converter and low transfer case work together to ensure a robust performance. Toyota has equipped it with a variety of driver assistance features, including an electronic differential lock, Vehicle Stability Control, Active Traction Control, Hill Start Assist Control, and Downhill Assist Control for added safety and control on various terrains.
Stepping inside, you’ll find a throwback to the past. The cabin exudes simplicity compared to today’s tech-laden SUVs. However, there are some modern touches, such as a rearview monitor placed at the centre stack and an array of buttons, dials, and knobs, perfect for those who prefer a more tactile driving experience over touchscreens.
