Toyota South Africa Motors has added a new canvas-topped derivative to its local Aygo range.
The third variant in the line-up, the Aygo X-Cite features a large, black canvas roof that stretches all the way back to the C-pillar.
Priced at R189 500, the X-Cite derivative is the new flagship of the range, commanding a R28 000 premium over the standard X-Play Black (the base Aygo costs R2 400 less than that).
In addition to its canvas roof, the X-Cite model furthermore gains a raft of added standard equipment, including 15-inch alloys (the other two derivatives run on 14-inch steelies), tilt adjustment for the steering, a rear foglamp, daytime running lights, two extra airbags (for a total of six), hill-start assist, stability control and an uprated audio system. A service plan, however, is still optional.
As with all local Aygo models, the X-Cite is powered by a naturally aspirated 1,0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, sending 51 kW and 95 N.m to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox.
