AC Schnitzer has revealed its performance upgrades for the new BMW X4, handing two of the Bavarian automaker’s diesel powertrains extra power and dollops of torque.

The oil-burners in question are the Munich-based brand’s 3,0-litre six-cylinder in M30d and M40d states of tune. The aforementioned engine, which produces 195 kW and 620 N.m of torque as standard, has been uprated to deliver 232 kW and 705 N.m to all four corners via BMW’s xDrive system. The M40d, meanwhile now produces a whopping 279 kW and 780 N.m of torque (up from 240 kW and 680 N.m).

Although the power output falls short of that produced by BMW’s recently unveiled high-performance X4 M (353 kW and 600 N.m) and Competition (375 kW and 600 N.m) models, you may have noticed that torque is significantly more. The Aachon-based firm believes “increasing torque is more important”.

To fully utilise this performance (especially when cornering), the German tuner has equipped the G02-generation X4 with a suspension lowering kit, which can drop the car by up to 25 mm.

The coupé-styled SUV has also received some aerodynamic updates, such as a carbon-fibre “Racing” rear spoiler (a revised roof-mounted item is also fitted) and an extended front splitter. The interior has received a dash of aluminium, with the pedals and iDrive controller finished in this material.
