Introduced to the South African market in 2022, Mahindra has handed the XUV 700 a mid-cycle update, including a name change. Meet the XUV 7XO.

Mahindra has whipped the wraps off the facelifted XUV 700, with the updated model gaining not only exterior and interior updates, but also a new name – XUV 7XO. The XUV 7XO adopts a revised front grille, replete with “jewel-like” talon accents, redesigned headlamp clusters, and a refreshed bumper. Several wheel options, ranging from 17 to 19 inches in size, are available.
Stepping inside, a panoramic display layout comprising three 12.3-inch screens – for instrumentation, infotainment, and the front passenger, respectively – takes pride of place on the facia. The infotainment setup incorporates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto screen mirroring. Depending on the trim grade, the package further includes a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, front and rear wireless smartphone charging bays, dual-zone climate control, ventilated fore and aft seats, ambient lighting, a 540-degree camera array, and a panoramic sunroof. A newly designed, two-spoke multifunction steering wheel is also present. The suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) include lane-keep assist and automatic emergency braking, to name but a few.
Revealed in India, the XUV 7XO retains the XUV 700’s powertrains. In its home market, the XUV 7XO can be had with the choice of two four-cylinder engine options: Mahindra’s (mStallion) 2.0-litre turbopetrol and (mHawk) 2.2-litre turbodiesel. The mStallion unit produces 149 kW and 380 N.m of torque, delivered to the front axle via either a six-speed manual gearbox or self-shifter with the same number of cogs. The mHawk powertrain churns out 136 kW, with the six-speed manual and six-speed automatic models endowed with 420 N.m and 450 N.m, respectively. As a reminder, locally, the pre-facelifted (XUV 700) derivative is exclusively available with the 2.0-litre turbopetrol and a six-speed auto ‘box.
