Nissan has used the Geneva Motor Show to unveil the facelifted Qashqai crossover, which boasts a new exterior design and what the automaker describes as “higher levels of interior quality” and “improved driving performance”.
Interestingly, the new Qashqai will be available in some markets with what Nissan calls “autonomous drive capability” (controlling the steering, acceleration and braking in a single lane on highways).
The automaker claims that the updated Qashqai features an “enhanced premium appeal” in the cabin, where it says it has improved the layout, added higher-quality materials and implemented “advanced technology”.
Also new is a D-shaped multi-function steering wheel with satin-chrome inserts. It features a new four-way controller for the combi-meter display, for more intuitive use and less “eyes off the road” time.
Exterior styling changes include a revised front end, which features the latest Nissan “V-motion” grille. The headlamps have also been redesigned and now feature a new version of the boomerang-style daytime running light signature. Adaptive front lighting has furthermore been added.
Round back, the taillight motif has been extended across the whole lamp, and now includes a 3D lens effect to enhance the signature shape.
Under the skin, Nissan says it has modified the suspension, damping and steering systems, which results in an “even more refined on-the-road experience”. The brand also claims that improved use of absorption materials and increased rear glass thickness have led to a reduction in cabin noise.
