Volkswagen has plans to further expand its electrified performance offering with the ID.5 GTX which will be officially unveiled at this year’s IAA. The Volkswagen ID.5 GTX will be mechanically identical to the ID.4 example that was unveiled in April.
Creating the distinctive design on the Volkswagen ID.5 GTX is a pair of IQ.Light LED matrix headlamps which generate an intelligently controlled high beam function. The light strip that tapers towards the Volkswagen logo has been combined with three powerful, illuminated honeycomb elements on both the driver and passenger side.
Giving the car a sleek silhouette is a flat sloping A pillar positioned right near the front. The line stretches low over the body and tapers out in an integrated rear spoiler. At the rear, horizontal lines accentuate the width with the light strip attracting the most attention. The LED taillamps boast a 3D design complete the feeling of luxury.
As an extension to the firms other GT variants, the Volkswagen ID.5 GTX represents a new athleticism. Giving it power is an electric engine on both the front and rear axle resulting in an all-wheel drive system that claims to inspire strong driving performance, superior traction and sporty handling. The large lithium-ion battery between the axles enables a projected range of up to 497 km.
When the Volkswagen ID.5 GTX arrives at dealers next year in select markets, it will be the second model from the sporty GTX product brand and will give the firm’s accelerate strategy another boost.
Volkswagen aims to become the most popular brand when it comes to sustainable mobility. The goal is to increase the share of all-electric cars in Europe to 70 per cent of Volkswagen‘s unit sales by 2030. Volkswagen is then aiming to become net carbon neutral by 2050.
