Buzz documentary goes into detail as to how the bus was designed, engineered and built by providing a platform for many of the individuals responsible for its creation the opportunity to explain the rationale behind some of the choices. From discussions on material selection to insight on the quirky headlight animations during startup, the well scripted and executed video does not skip a detail for the latest Wolfsburg creation and provides a glimpse into what the model might entail in the future.
More interestingly to some will be the predecessors to the ID. Buzz with curator of the Volkswagens collection of vintage commercial vehicles; Tobias Twele, shedding some light on the first electric Volkswagen Transporter which is half a century old. The original concept first came to fruition in 1972 at the Hannover Industrial Fair. Powered by a large battery pack in the middle of the vehicle, a fleet of the Elektro-Transporters were trialled in a variety of different German cities but results were unfavourable for commercial application at the time.
