The new VUHL 05RR – a lighter, faster version of the already lightweight Mexican sports car – is set to be revealed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
And, as has become the norm, the company has released a handful of teaser images of the new vehicle, which is based on the VUHL 05. Unfortunately, they give away very little.
Details, too, are rather scarce at this stage, with the Mexican automaker only saying that “the new 05RR is the result of extensive track development of the 05, combined with aggressive mass reduction and aero programmes and the sourcing of top-quality components specified in collaboration with partner suppliers’ engineering teams”.
The 05RR, of course, will be positioned above the standard VUHL 05. Interestingly, though, it will still be road legal, “retaining a number of comfort options to ensure enjoyable and useable on-road performance”.
After the VUHL 05RR is fully revealed, it will be driven up the famed Goodwood Hillclimb by GP2 driver and Formula 1 test driver, Jordan King.
No confirmation yet on whether it will receive a power hike over the standard version, which employs a mid-mounted 2,0-litre EcoBoost engine from Ford, and blasts from standstill to 100 km/h in around 3,5 seconds.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed takes place from 23 to 26 June.
