Following the reveal of the facelifted Tiguan five-seater almost a year ago, Volkswagen is finally preparing to pull the covers off the revised seven-seat Tiguan Allspace model.
Set to debut next Wednesday, May 12, the 2021 Tiguan Allspace will receive a number of stylistic and technological updates to see it through until the introduction of the next-generation model.
The design changes are likely to mirror those seen on the regular Tiguan, which received a redesigned front end that bears some resemblance to the T-Cross and T-Roc SUVs.
As for the cabin, Volkswagen is promising a “wide range” of online-based services and functions that form part of the MIB3 infotainment system. The latter also boasts natural voice control and a multi phone pairing system designed to switch seamlessly between different devices.
The facelifted five-seater also saw the debut of the Travel Assist semi-automated driving system that can assist with acceleration, braking and steering at speeds of up to 209km/h.
It remains to be seen whether Volkswagen will offer a seven-seat version of the 235kW Tiguan R that was announced last year. Likely engine options for the Allspace include a 110 kW 1.4 TSI turbopetrol as well as a 2.0 TSI with 162 kW and a 2.0 TDI turbodiesel that offers 130 kW and 380 N.m.
The regular five-seat Tiguan is scheduled to arrive in South Africa during the third quarter of this year, with the seven-seat Allspace likely to debut at a later stage.
